Netols Asset Management's
investment professionals work as a team to identify investment prospects and manage client
portfolios. They seek investments in companies with between $100 million and $2
billion in market capitalization. Netols' investment process is based on rigorous
fundamental bottom-up research. With an emphasis on market inefficiencies and
under-followed areas in the market, stock selection reflects our belief that changes in a
company's financial, organizational or operational management create significant
opportunities for investment outperformance over time.
Before a stock may be considered for investment, the stock must be undervalued and exhibit
potential "change factor" characteristics. These change factor
characteristics can be organizational, operational, financial and/or regulatory.
Typically, once change factors are realized they lead to an increase in cash flow,
earnings, EBITDA or valuations in the marketplace which tend to deliver better performance
than the overall small cap market. In addition to assessing the environment in which a
company and industry operates, their investment professionals often draw on the
information in federal filings (10-K, 10-Q, annual reports, etc.) of the companies in
their research universe. The firm utilizes a deep network of industry contacts and
will attend conferences where appropriate to obtain in-depth knowledge of trends and
company specific issues.
